As a busy mom and elementary teacher who is literally on my feet all day, comfort is key. I have been through many pairs of shoes. I have actually thrown out shoes after just one wear. Why? Well, if the pair of shoes does not pass the first-day test, I won’t hesitate to toss them right in the trash.
First Day Test:
- Will not give blisters or cuts on the back of the heel
- Expands with the foot throughout the day
- Comfortable without sacrificing style
So, on my mission to find the perfect shoes for the season, and to wear both in and out of the classroom, I came across a really neat site, Off the Beaten Track. These shoes are comfortable for people that are on their feet, and moving and shaking their way through life’s daily adventures. Off The Beaten Track offers many styles to choose from like sneakers, wedges, sandals, and boots & booties. So, I decided to treat myself and try them. Here’s what I chose:
Wayside In Grey Pewter Wedge
This metallic slide is chic and so comfortable. I love that I can wear these shoes with many outfits in my spring and summer wardrobe. The Step Lite foam provides spring-back technology, re-forming after every step so it passes the first-day test. I loved these slides the moment I slipped my feet into them. These are my new favorite everyday shoes that I can wear with just about anything.
And since I am a fan of chic wedges, I chose the Bushnell Desert Wedge Sandal.
The rave reviews convinced me that these are the wedges that I needed in my life. What I love most about these wedges, which are lacking in many other shoes, is the stretchy ankle strap for comfortable all-day support. There are no adjustable straps that dig into your ankles. What makes this wedge so comfortable is the way it moves with my foot and the comfort of the memory foam pad. I love the animal print style which is super cute. I completely understand the importance of comfortable shoes, especially when you’re on your feet all day. It’s frustrating to spend money on shoes that don’t meet your expectations. I really like OTBT shoes! I live in the town where they’re made, so I often pop by the clearance center to pick some up. They’re great!

They are very comfortable! As a tecaher, I choose comfort when it comes to my outfits in school.
I salute teachers for their dedication. Standing all day in a room full of children can zap their energy. That being said, good footwear can minimize the aches and pains of standing all day.
Although I’m not a teacher – I work retail and on my feet all day. These Off The Beaten Track: Shoes look perfect. I appreciate they stretch throughout the day as I struggle with swollen feet a lot! Great suggestion!
