Biography/Autobiography Bundle

This bundle has all you need to write and publish a biography and autobiography writing all year. It includes 5 BIG resources that your students will love that are print and digital to meet the needs of your students.

Here is what is included:

AUTOBIOGRAPHY:

1. Autobiography Google Slides: This autobiography can be used at any time of the year. I’ve used it when teaching informative writing, as a getting to know you activity at the beginning of the year, and also as an end of year keepsake. Now in GOOGLE SLIDES!

It includes:

• Autobiography cover (2 templates- landscape and portrait photo template)
• Table of Contents (2 templates—one with premade headings and one blank template for students to come up with their own headings for each page)
• 6 premade slides with headings (All About Me, Home Sweet Home, Hobbies & Interests, Besties, Sweet Success, Hopes and Dreams)- Just insert body text and images
• Additional slides with and without photo templates and headings, to customize headings, font, & color
• Premade Fun Facts Sheet- just insert text
• Premade Favorites at a Glance- just insert text
• Photo collage slides (2 templates) Students could include as many of these pages as they’d like and include photos and images

There’s flexibility with your students creating their own headings on blank template pages or you could use the already made ones. Students can delete unwanted slides or duplicate slides to add pages of ones they need or like.

All pages are black and white for easy printing. You decide if you want your students to add color or decorate it. When it’s spiral bound it looks really great, but I’ve stapled it, used brass fasteners, or even used ribbon/yarn to bind it. There’s flexibility with your students creating their own headings on blank template pages or you could use the already made ones.

3. Autobiography Book with Non-Fiction Text & Graphic Features: This autobiography book can be used at any time of the year. I’ve used it when teaching informative writing and non-fiction text & graphic features and as a getting to know you activity at the beginning of the year.

It includes:

• Non-Fiction text & graphic features reference handout
• Autobiography cover (2 types- landscape and portrait photo/illustration template)
• Table of Contents (blank so your students can come up with their own headings for each page of their book)

Page templates:

• Blank template to add a heading and for students to create a diagram. map, chart, and graph, with a space to add text on the bottom. You could make as many copies of this page as needed.
• Boy and girl templates for diagram
• Photo/illustration page with a space to add a caption. You could make as many copies of this page as needed.
• USA map template (B& W and color)
• Chart template- You could use this one or your students may use the blank template if you want your students to make and customize their own charts.
• Bar graph template- You could use this one or your students may use the blank template if you your students to make different kinds of graphs.

All pages are black and white for easy printing. You decide if you want your students to add color or decorate it. Brainstorm page ideas with your students. Some page ideas include a description of the student, favorites, family, friends, and hobbies & interests.

4. Peer Biography: This peer biography could be used at any time of the year. I’ve used this when teaching informative writing, as a getting to know you activity at the beginning of the school year, and when teaching a unit on biographies. Includes both printable pages and digital slides.

The pages in this resource are all in black and white (easy on your printer). I especially liked printing this resource. The kids made the books with good old-fashioned paper and pencil. They included photos and illustrations. They decorated the pages and added color. Each book came out really nice and was printed, bound, and added to our classroom library.

I’ve also included a link to use this resource digitally in Google Slides. You’ll be prompted to make a copy. There are lots of ways to customize this. Students can insert their choice of font style, size, and color, insert pictures, and images, and duplicate or delete slides. Text boxes are included. You can save, share, and present published biographies.

5. Biography Project: This is a manageable, low-prep, printer-friendly resource for biography writing. I created this resource because it was just what I wanted and needed after teaching a biography unit. This resource has what you need to teach your students how to write a biography with organized sections all put onto one poster/slide.

This resource includes:

• A brief teacher guide with suggested mini-lessons and resources

I put this resource in Google Slides to share the link to the biography poster with my students. All slides/pages are printable. I printed out all the other pages, like the notetaking and checklists.
