Mother’s Day Simile Tribute

This is an engaging and interactive activity to do for Mother’s Day that incorporates similes. Students make comparisons by incorporating similes into their writing to extend meaning.

What’s included:

• 3 Mother’s Day Tribute Templates (Mom & Grandma, in 2 styles- My Mom/ Grandma is… or Mom/Grandma you are…) and a generic tribute that can be used for any special woman in a child’s life.
• Mother’s Day Tribute example (Mom and Grandma)
• Mother’s Day blank pages or card cover- Students could decorate the cover and draw or include a photo of he/she with their “mom.”

*We put the acrostic poem side by side with the Mother’s Day Tribute on a 12 x 18 piece of construction paper and folded it in half to make a card. The kids loved decorating it and it comes out really nice! The “moms” in their lives LOVE it!!! It makes such a beautiful keepsake gift! Another option is to frame it.
